In turn, within this religion there are several branches that interpret their beliefs differently, the majority being Sunnism and Shiism. Both branches differ from each other by their interpretation of the Koran and the scriptures, as well as by who it was who replaced Muhammad after his death. Of the total Muslim population, it is estimated that 80% worldwide are Sunnies, while 18% are Shiites.

Why is water incapable of carving the grand canyon

Water IS capable of carving the Grand Canyon. The river in the middle of the canyon eroded the ground and, over millions of years, deepened the Canyon to the one we know today. The reason it doesn't seem to be deepening is because it takes a very, VERY long time.
