Answer:

The length of the original rectangle is 73.4 mm.

The breadth of the original rectangle is 86.6 mm.

Step-by-step explanation:

Given : The perimeter of a rectangle is 320 mm. If its length increases by 10 mm and its breadth decreases by 10 mm then it its area will be 32 less.

To find : Calculate the length and breadth of the original rectangle ?

Solution :

The area of the rectangle is A=L\times B

Let the length of the rectangle be 'x'

The breadth of the rectangle be 'y'

The area is A=xy

Now, length increases by 10 mm i.e. L=x+10

breadth decreases by 10 mm i.e. B=y-10

The new area is A_n=(x+10)(y-10)

According to question,

A-A_n=32

xy-(x+10)(y-10)=32 ......(1)

The perimeter of a rectangle is 320 mm.

i.e. P=2(L+B)

320=2(x+y)

x+y=160

x=160-y .....(2)

Substitute the value of y from eqn (2) in (1),

y(160-y)-(160-y+10)(y-10)=32

160y-y^2-(170-y)(y-10)=32

160y-y^2-(180y-1700-y^2)=32

160y-y^2-180y+1700+y^2=32

1700-20y=32

20y=1732

y=\frac{1732}{20}

y=86.6

Substitute in (2),

x=160-86.6

x=73.4

The length of the original rectangle is 73.4 mm.

The breadth of the original rectangle is 86.6 mm.

Segment JI is a midsegment (given). So that means point J is a midpoint of segment HF. The midpoint cuts HF into two equal pieces. Those two pieces are HJ and JF. Therefore, HJ = JF

Using substitution, we can plug in the given expressions that the diagram shows. Then we can solve for x
HJ = JF
2x-3 = x+2
2x-3+3 = x+2+3
2x = x+5
2x-x = x+5-x
x = 5

Now that we know x = 5, use this to find the length of HG
HG = 11*x + 5
HG = 11*5 + 5
HG = 55 + 5
HG = 60

So HG is 60 inches long, which is the final answer

Note: 60 inches = 5 ft

Solve the system of equations then solve for x
Oxana [17]

On step 2 you already substituted for y, from there you can solve for x:

7x + 2(3 - 3x) = 1

Multiply 2 into (3 - 3x)

7x + 6 - 6x = 1

Combine like terms

x + 6 = 1

Subtract 6 on both sides

x = -5

What is the answer to this equation <br> 3 3/7 + 4 5/7=
aksik [14]
Conversion a mixed number 3 3
7
to a improper fraction: 3 3/7 = 3 3
7
= 3 · 7 + 3
7
= 21 + 3
7
= 24
7

To find new numerator:
a) Multiply the whole number 3 by the denominator 7. Whole number 3 equally 3 * 7
7
= 21
7

b) Add the answer from previous step 21 to the numerator 3. New numerator is 21 + 3 = 24
c) Write previous answer (new numerator 24) over the denominator 7.

Three and three sevenths is twenty-four sevenths
Conversion a mixed number 4 5
7
to a improper fraction: 4 5/7 = 4 5
7
= 4 · 7 + 5
7
= 28 + 5
7
= 33
7

To find new numerator:
a) Multiply the whole number 4 by the denominator 7. Whole number 4 equally 4 * 7
7
= 28
7

b) Add the answer from previous step 28 to the numerator 5. New numerator is 28 + 5 = 33
c) Write previous answer (new numerator 33) over the denominator 7.

Four and five sevenths is thirty-three sevenths
Add: 24
7
+ 33
7
= 24 + 33
7
= 57
7

For adding, subtracting, and comparing fractions, it is suitable to adjust both fractions to a common (equal, identical) denominator. The common denominator you can calculate as the least common multiple of the both denominators - LCM(7, 7) = 7. In practice, it is enough to find the common denominator (not necessarily the lowest) by multiplying the denominators: 7 × 7 = 49. In the next intermediate step the fraction result cannot be further simplified by cancelling.
In words - twenty-four sevenths plus thirty-three sevenths = fifty-seven sevenths.
