"The swimming contest" ends with the word losers. what do you think the author means for readers to understand by this? what was
Aleonysh [2.5K]
It ends with the word losers because they are all losers in the end even if somebody wins. What was lost was the desire to win because everybody swam and some people thought that they are the best are they just can't do it. So mainly, nobody had the wit to think that the could do more than just win.

You have been assigned to write an essay about the conflict between the logging industry and environmental activists. Which is r
DerKrebs [107]

Answer:

The option that is relevant to this subject is:

B) a description of protests staged at a logging site.

Explanation:

When we look at each option, we can notice that some of them, although related to the subject, are also too broad or loose, so to speak. Our focus is on the conflict between the logging industry and environmental activists. There is no reason, for instance, to describe a typical day in the life of a logger. Doing so will only draw readers away from the main topic. The same goes for using an advertisement of how the logging industry helps the community. This option, as a matter of fact, would go against the purpose of the writing. The last option should also be eliminated since it will make the writing unnecessarily long, focusing on something that does not directly apply to the conflict.

The best option is letter B. Protests carried out by environmentalists at a logging site are a direct effect and representation of the conflict between them.
