If the two plants that are crossed are both heterozygous, that means they each have one dominant allele and one recessive allele, which would like this: Ss. By putting both of the Ss genotypes (one Ss for one parent at the top of the board and the other Ss for the second parent down the side of the board) around the punnet square, you get: Ss x Ss= SS, Ss, Ss, ss. You are then asked to find the percent of wrinkles peas, which can only be shown when both alleles are recessive. By looking at the punnet square you can see that that only happens 1/4 times. When you turn that into a percent you get 25% of the plants that have wrinkled peas.
