The legend of lover's lane is a story about teenagers parking in a secluded area to be alone and intimate. The boyfriend hears a strange noise and gets out of the car to investigate. The girlfriend becomes concerned when her boyfriend doesn't return. Then she hears the sound of something scraping the roof of the car. She steps out to investigate discovering her boyfriend hanging upside down from a tree dead and bloody. The scraping sound was of his nails on the roof because he was hanging directly above the roof. She locks herself in the car hearing her boyfriends nails scraping the roof throughout the night. When morning comes she's found in the car traumatized. There are different versions to this story but I think the point is to deter teenagers from having premarital sex.
