There are mainly three types of regions;

1. Formal region: some examples are Germany, United States of America, Africa, Europe, China, Canada etc.

2. Functional region: an example is the Houston metropolitan area.

3. Perpetual or vernacular region: an example is the slums of Detroit.

Formal region also known as uniform or homogeneous region can be defined as an area with things in common that can be proven and that are measurable. These includes language, cultural values, economic activity, climate etc.

Since I can't circle the answer in the book, I will tell you what to circle for the type of eclipse that may occur when the moon is located in position A. 

You will need to circle the "solar eclipse." The reason why this type of eclipse may occur when the moon is at this particular position is because the shadow of the moon falls on the Earth during a solar eclipse. Another reason why is because the moon is aligned between the Sun and the earth.
