Ok, so Hamilton had a plan to get rid of the US's debt after the Revolutionary war and the Southerner's didn't like it, so Hamilton didnt have enough votes in congress to get the plan passed. Madison was a Federalist with a lot of Democratic-Republican views, so he didnt like the plan either, but Hamilton wanted the plan passed, so he negotiated with his Federalist buddy, James Madison, who was friends with Jefferson and Hamilton compromised on the capital, using his influence over those in congress to give the Southerners a Southern capital, in exchange for Jefferson using his influence over those in congress to get Hamilton's debt plan passed. Thus resulting in more of a debt-free United States and a capital just above Virginia, a southern state. The End. You know my answer is way better, so mark me brainliest, please.
