Read the excerpt from “ Crossing Brooklyn Ferry.” Just as you feel when you look on the river and sky, so I felt, Just as any of

you is one of a living crowd, I was one of a crowd, Just as you are refresh'd by the gladness of the river and the bright flow, I was refresh'd, Just as you stand and lean on the rail, yet hurry with the swift current, I stood yet was hurried, Just as you look on the numberless masts of ships and the thick-stemm'd pipes of steamboats, I look'd. What is the purpose of the repetition in these lines?
A) to highlight that the narrator feels misunderstood by others
B) to emphasize that the narrator’s experience is universal
C) to highlight that the reader and narrator are from different times
D) to emphasize that only the reader can relate to the narrator

I am 80% sure it is B.

The two answers before me were incorrect, which leaves A and B. A seems like it doesn't have anything to do with the excerpt, so that leaves B.

(I know this is very late, but hey, better late than never)

That man over there says that women need to be helped into carriages, and lifted over ditches, and to have the best place everyw
algol [13]

The thing that can be easily noticed from the given interaction is that the speaker believes that women get preferential treatment and men do not.

He makes use of sarcasm to show his frustrations at how women are better treated than he is and he shows it through his words about the special treatment of women.

What is Preferential Treatment?

This refers to the way and manner in which a person is treated and is different from the way another is treated.

Hence, we can see that based on the given narration, the speaker talks about women and how they are helped into carriages, lifted over ditches, and have the best place everywhere.

Therefore, this shows that he believes that women get preferential treatment and men do not and this makes him very unhappy indeed.

Six less then two thirds of a number is negative ten. find the number
Alexxx [7]
Lets say the number = x
the equation is:

2/3 x - 6 = -10 (add 6 to each side)

2/3 x - 6 + 6 = -10 + 6

2/3 x = -4 (multiply each side by 2/3 's reciprocal or 3/2)

\frac{2}{3} x* \frac{3}{2} =-4* \frac{3}{2}

x = - \frac{12}{2}

x = -6

The number is -6
