As I remember from history, the Romans admired the human body. They loved the way the body was shaped and just how it was. That is possibly why they took detail into the human sculptures.

Representation (arts) is basically when something is utilized as signs which stand at for and get the position of something else. It has been related with two terms aesthetics (art) and semiotics (signs). But this term depicts its meaning and interpretations with huge diversity.
In the theory of Literary, it is commonly defined in three ways: first is to resemble or look like, second is to stand in for someone or something while third and the last is to re-present which means to present a second time.
