Analysis of what Bruno's grandmother said in 'The Boy in the Striped Pajamas.'

Bruno, a nine year old boy is the central character from the novel ‘The Boy in the Striped Pajamas’ which is written by John Boyne. There comes an incident in the novel when Bruno wears a striped pajama and it makes him feel and realize what it is like to be Jew.

On the other hand, when Bruno’s father wears his uniform, he becomes a changed personality, he is no more what he seemed to be. He becomes the commandant. In the novel, clothes are something which differentiates between the people from both the side of the fence.

Write a descriptive paragraph about your favorite fictional character. Use at least three metaphors
Natasha_Volkova [10]

Hi Aarroy,

Who is your favorite fictional character? It doesn't have to be someone from a classic novel unless your teacher specified. It can be a character from a movie you love etc.

In order to write a "descriptive" paragraph, all you have to do is describe the character you choose using vivid language. For instance, if I was writing about Darcy from Pride and Prejudice I could write;

<em>"He has silvery blue eyes and an intimdating stature."</em> etc.

Just write about your character's appearance as well as his personality.

Metaphors are comparisons that do NOT use <u>like</u> or <u>as</u>. For instance, I could write:

<em>"Darcy's personality is an onion; with an outward appearance that first appears cold but whose inner layers reveal his insecure and fragile nature."</em>

I know that sounds like a mouthful, but I am comparing Darcy's personality to an onion without using like or as, which is a metpahor.

Vitek1552 [10]

Answer:

Yoyo didn't need much encouragement. She put her nose to the fire, as her mother would have said, and read from start to finish without looking up. When she concluded, she was a little embarrassed at the pride she took in her own words.

Why does Odysseus choose to go on Scylla's side of the strait? Answer in complete sentences.
MArishka [77]
In Book XII of Homer's The Odyssey, Odysseus and his men are leaving the land of Circe and she advises them on where to go next. She tells them that they will run into Scylla or Charydbis. She told Odysseus that while Scylla would eat 6 of his men, the ship and the remaining men would be safe to continue their journey. On the other hand, if he sailed near Charydbis, it would swallow the whole ship and eat all men. It was a clear decision to make because it was preferable to lose only part of his crew than everyone.
