Each search engine has facilities to make it easier to find information in the form of a "search operator"
Boole operator
The AND operator is used to combine keywords or concepts to get more specific information. For example keywords, roles, nutrition, and family. If the three keywords are linked to the AND operator, a combination of information from the three will be obtained. The AND operator can also be written with a plus sign (+)
Example:
The role of AND Nutrition AND Family
Role + Nutrition + Family
NOT operator is used to issue keywords or concepts that are not needed in the search. In the example, the keyword 'family' is not needed in the search, so only information that contains the keyword 'Role AND Nutrition' is obtained. The NOT operator is also written with a minus sign (-).
Example:
The role of AND NOT family nutrition
Role + Nutrition -Family
OR operator is used to expand the information to be obtained. For example "Role OR Nutrition OR Family" then all information containing the keywords Role, Nutrition or Family will be obtained.
Truncation with a sign (*) or (?) Is used to get information that contains the word in front of it.
Example: tele* will get words that contain the preposition 'tele' such as, Telematics, Telepathy, Telephone, Telerama, etc.
Search restrictions by using:
Quotation mark "............."
Example: "Increase in toll rates"
Brackets (............)
Example: (symptoms of OR treatment) + "dengue fever"
Certain words, such as: Location, File type, Title, etc.
Example: "how to stop smoking" filetype: pdf
