A quest is a journey that is meant to lead the traveller to a specific goal, often an allegorical or symbolic one. This mission usually requires overcoming great obstacles, as well as achieving great personal growth. Sometimes, the quest also includes supernatural events, or employs heroic characters with supernatural abilities. The quest is one of the most common plot archetypes in literature.
