Order these Quadratic Functions from the narrowest to widest listed as 1,2,3,4
Kruka [31]

Answer:

From narrowest to widest:

1) 8\cdot x^{2} + 2\cdot x +5

2) 5\cdot x^{2}-1

3) 2\cdot x^{2}+4

4) \frac{2}{5}\cdot x^{2}+3\cdot x -5

Step-by-step explanation:

The "width" of the quadratic function is determined by the value of the coefficient associated by the monomial of highest grade, with respect to the primitive of the quadratic function, represented by y = x^{2}, whose ruling coefficient is 1. If the ruling coefficient of the quadratic function is greater than  one, then the curve becomes narrower at the same time that the coefficient increases. Otherwise, if the ruling coefficient of the quadratic function is greater than zero and less than 1, then the curve becomes wider at the same time that the coefficient approximates to zero.

Based on this considerations, we proceed to list the quadratic functions from the narrowest to widest:

1) 8\cdot x^{2} + 2\cdot x +5

2) 5\cdot x^{2}-1

3) 2\cdot x^{2}+4

4) \frac{2}{5}\cdot x^{2}+3\cdot x -5

Lastly, we include a graphic with all polynomials (tagged as 1, 2, 3, 4) in comparison primitive function (tagged as 0).

Find the point on the line 6x+y=9 that is closest to the point (-3,1).
Snowcat [4.5K]
 Basically, you have to find the line through (-3, 1) that is perpendicular to the line 6x + y = 9 and then find where the two lines intersect. Dropping a perpendicular from the point to the line is the shortest distance from the point to the line.

6x + y = 9
y = -6x + 9
slope is -6

perpendicular would have slope 1/6
(y - 1) = (1/6) (x + 3)
y - 1 = (1/6) x + (1/2)
multiplying both sides by 6
6y - 6 = x + 3
x - 6y = -9

Where do these two lines intersect?

From above we know given equation is y = -6x + 9
Plugging into other equation
x - 6(-6x + 9) = -9
x + 36x - 54 = -9
37 x = 45
x = 45/37
y = -6(45/37) + 9
y = -270/37 + (333/37)
y = 63/37

point is (45/37, 63/37)

Question 1 The face of each stone on a walkway was shaped like a trapezoid shown below. What is the area of the trapezoid? Selec
Romashka-Z-Leto [24]

*figure of the face of each stone is shown on the attachment below

Answer:

66 square inches

Step-by-step explanation:

Area of the trapezoid = ½(a + b) × h

Where,

a = 14 inches

b = 8 inches

h = 6 inches

Plug in the values into the trapezoid area formula

Area of the trapezoid = ½(14 + 8) × 6

= ½(22) × 6

= 11 × 6

Area of the trapezoid = 66 square inches
