Serving on a jury is when a person is asked to be present during a court trial and help decide if the accused is guilty or not. If the country goes to war a person may be drafted to serve in the military because it is their duty to help protect their country. Paying taxes on time is very important because it ensures that the government has enough funds to keep the country running smoothly.
Citizen participation is an important factor for the government to be able to function efficiently. Other activities such as volunteering or helping out elderly citizens are definitely welcome, but not considered official duties.
