The Sun is the only star able to support a solar system.
a. True
b. False
irina [24]
Within our galaxy alone there are around 500 solar systems (or so many we have discovered so far): so the statement is clearly wrong and the correct answer is b) False.

There are a lot more starts in the galaxy, but not all of them have planets around them - so not all of them have a solar system

Explain five different ways that you can respond to global warming.
Readme [11.4K]

Answer:

1. Limit the time that you have your AC(air conditioner) is running. Air conditioning uses a chemical called HFC(hydrofluorocarbons), and that chemical is used to keep you cool in your house. HFC is quite toxic for the environment, and it contributes to global warming, because it is called a greenhouse gas by the government. Studies show that the more air conditioning you use, the more likely that more HFC will be released into the environment, worsening the impact it has on global warming.

2. Bike, walk, or use another non-mechanized transportation more. As you have smelled or seen before, cars, buses, trains(not electronic), and many other vehicles emit smoke and other sorts of things. These vehicles emit greenhouse gases such as carbon monoxide, hydrocarbons, nitrogen oxides, and Particulate matter. All of these chemicals really harm the environment, and studies show us that cars and other vehicles produce about 75 percent of CARBON MONOXIDE pollution in the world. By driving less, or using other forms of public transportation less(non electronic), you can reduce the amount of greenhouse gases released into the environment.

3. Use solar power. Solar power is becoming very common, and many people actually have switched to this type of power. The reason? It is very easily renewable. A reason that people should switch to solar power is because other forms of producing power (using turbines, which uses heat, wind, water, steam. etc) have a negative impact on our environment. Solar power can help the environment and the people by reducing greenhouse gas emissions, and it also produces a low cost, low maintenance power source.

4. Don't use plastic items, since plastic production usually produces lots of Carbon Dioxide emissions. Plastic is a useful material, and about 300 MILLION TONS of it is produced every year. Now imagine what it would take to make all this plastic. Have you ever wondered how plastic is made. Plastic is made from natural materials/resources/elements that are found on the Earth. Some of these materials are cellulose, coal, natural gas, salt and crude oil, which are pretty easy to find. These materials are sent to an oil refinery, where first crude oil is refined, and then separated into lighter components which are called fractions. These fractions are then put into one of two processes, and these processes are called polymerization and poly-condensation. Both of these require specific catalysts. Polymerization uses ethylene and propylene to make its plastic. This process is complicated, but during this process, greenhouse gases such as water vapor, carbon dioxide (CO2), methane, nitrous oxide and ozone are released into the environment, and once again, they harm the environment. By using less plastic, you can add less amounts of toxic greenhouse gases into the environment

P.S. Keep in mind, about 300 TONS OF PLASTIC are produced each year.

5. When cows burp, they produce a greenhouse gas called methane. This greenhouse gas is actually one of the most contributing factors to global warming, and it actually is 34 times, more harmful to the environment than carbon dioxide is. Eat less beef, since if there is a higher demand for beef, then the farmers/corporate which produce cows/breed cows will breed more, which adds more methane to the environment. The more demand for cows there are, the more production of cows there will be, which makes more and more methane over time.

In conclusion, by using less natural materials and resources, you can reduce the amount of global warming that is happening to our world right now.
