French Revolution, did not only affect France itself but it also affected its own neighboring countries. At the early years of 1790s, France wanted to wage war with Austria to regain the Northern land and to gain more popularity. after a few weeks of the declaration if war against Austria Prussia joint forces. The invading Prussian army faced little resistance because of the retirement of the French armies when they saw sight of the enemy. The battle of Valmy. The attack was initiated by the joint forces of Prussian- Austrian in the hopes to let France go back to monarchical system albeit they failed and retreated. The Prussian army were led by Kellerman, Dumouriez and their ally the duke of Brunswick. At the late 1790s a new constitution was born and it was called " the directory". Austria having a lone battle against France with its new unusual army was led by general Napoleon Buonaparte, a relatively young artillery school graduate, was able to expel the combined Austrian armies from Northern Italy. The war in France was caused by its turning over a new constitution , from monarchy to democracy. It has caused the neighboring countries to start a war in hopes for France to go back to monarchial , although it has failed. France elected Napoleon to be their first leader for the new constitution.
