Hi! I'm happy to help!

Our net is composed of three shapes. Two congruent circles, and one rectangle. Our rectangle is 12cm by 2cm. Multiplied together, our rectangle has an area of 24cm².

We have our circle equation: A=\pir². It said to use 3 for pi, so our equation can be A=3(r²)

Radius is always half the length of our diameter. Our diameter is 4cm, so our radius will be 2cm.

Now, let's insert our values:

A=3(2²)

Now, let's solve:

A=3(4)

A=12

So, our area for one of the circles is 12cm². Since our circles are congruent, they will have the same area. Now, we have all 3 areas of all the shapes.

24+12+12=48cm²

Now, we need to name the figure. This is a net of a 3 dimensional shape. Since the net has circles on opposite sides, the rectangle must wrap around the circumference of both circles. This means that the 12cm must be equivalent to the circumference of the circle. Our circumference is 2\pir, or 2(3)(2), which is 12. So, with congruent circles on top and bottom, and a rectangle wrapping around, this seems to be a cylinder.

So, our Total Surface Area is 48cm², and the figure is a cylinder.

I hope this was helpful, keep learning! :D

Two gears are connected and are rotating simultaneously. The smaller gear has a radius of 4 inches, and the larger gear has a ra
pychu [463]
Draw a diagram to illustrate the problem as shown below.

When the smaller gear rotates through a revolution, it sweeps an arc length of
2π(4) = 8π inches.

Part 1
The same arc length is swept by the larger gear. The central angle of the larger gear, x, is
7x = 8π
x = (8π)/7 radians = (8π)/7 * (180/π) = 205.7°

Answer: 205.7° (nearest tenth)

Part 2
When the larger gear makes one rotation, it sweeps an arc length of
2π(7) = 14π inches.
If the central angle for the smaller gear is y radians, then
4y = 14π
y = 3.5π radians = (3.5π)/2π revolutions = 1.75 revolutions

Answer:
The smaller gear makes 1.75 rotations

Which is the correct solution to -6x < 18?
marysya [2.9K]

Hello there! :)

Answer:

\boxed{x>-3}

*The answer must have a NEGATIVE sign.*

Step-by-step explanation:

First, you multiply by -1 both sides of an equation.

(-6x)(-1)>18(-1)

Then, simplify.

6x>-18

Divide by 6 both sides of an equation.

\frac{6x}{6}>\frac{-18}{6}

Divide by the numbers from left to right.

-18/6=-3

Final answer is →→→ \boxed{x>-3}

Hope this helps!

Have a nice day! :)
