The American public will be affected by loss of freedom in the following ways: Legislators could punish speakers, writers, and protesters. Many wouldn't be able to express themselves/their freedoms. People wouldn't be able to complain/comment on how the government is operating and have no input for how it should be handled. In a shocking turn hate speech would increase as the 1st amendment does have checks and limits in place to stop such things from being said to others, because in actuality the 1st amendment gives you the right to speak out against the government and powers in charge- not against other citizens.
