The Karankawa tribe became the problems for colonists as they frequently raid the colony and cause plenty of damage. They also stole horses and cattle. The reason for the hostile behaviour of the tribe remains because of establishing a settlement in their territory. At first, Austin tried to bargain with them, but as they continued to raid, he formed a militia to protect the colony.
