Independence means,"You're not dependent on anyone."

It means freeing yourself from someone. It means to finally find freedom after being under someone's rule. It means you are free of any control now, nobody owns you. You have the right to do whatever you want, whenever you want because you are independent now (meaning you're not dependent on anyone).
