Medium influences the perception of art because it is ordinary and may seem as simple as anything else. The medium is the common object, idea, etc, so when we see something simple such as a painted square, we may not think of what thought went behind it or even the materials that were used to make such a "simple" piece of artwork. The medium may also help us to think harder of the artwork, we may wonder why such a simple square is so significant. Artists should and shouldn't tailor their work to suit others.
