I remembered my siblings and how skinny and malnourished we looked. At that moment, even though it hurt me to do it, I grabbed the bag and shoved it in my bag. To this day, I still feel extremely bad for what I had done, but a part of me slept a little better that night knowing my family wouldn’t starve in our car that night.
