PLEASE HELP!!
Viktor [21]

Answer:

1. Reread the last two-sentence paragraph of the story.

  • They learned their heads over the tank and found him. The crab, finished with the old home that no longer fit, was coming out of his shell.

2. How does this paragraph reveal the theme of the story?

  • The theme of the story is "Give people a chance and they might change." She was biased and a bigot when the story started. She always said that white people like herself were better than other races. Finally, she was nice and willing to be different. When she went to the pet store with Michael, she wanted to buy a crab for herself. Finally, she sees everyone for who they are and starts to be nice to everyone.
  • Esther had been away from the real world for so long that she had become judgmental and bigoted. When Michael took Esther outside to see the world again, she realized how good the world was and stopped being so judgmental.

3. The last paragraph reveals the crab was coming out of his shell after finishing his old home that no longer fit him."

  • He finished his previous house, which no longer suited him, as shown in the last line, and was coming out of his shell. " In other words, the crab was ecstatic to have met new friends and was bursting out of his shell, which might be compared to Michael's feelings of happiness. Michael, who was initially suspicious of and disapproves of his Aunt Esther, is now willing to give her a second chance. Michael, like the crab, emerges from his shell to offer his heart to others, particularly his aunt Esther. You never know what may happen if you merely give someone a chance.

4. How are do Michael and Esther connect to the behavior of the hermit crab, changing their ideas of "home"? Explain. Use details from the story to support your answer.

  • Michael was sad at the beginning of the story when he found out that his parents died six months prior. Getting his hermit crab helped him go through his sadness much quicker. This explains the sense that if you give Michael chance to try different remedies, he might find a connection with an animal to help him find happiness.
  • At first, when Aunt Esther saw the crabs, she disliked them. After she got to know them more closely, she began to understand them and like them more and more. This explains the sense that if you give Aunt Esther a chance to get to know things, she might change her point of view.
  • At the beginning of the story, Michael a fourteen-year-old boy, who is grieving his deceased parents. His Aunt Esther, a prejudice person and a bigot. He then gets his hermit crab Sluggo, who has made Michael happy. His Aunt begins to like the crabs and decides to get her own. She goes to get her own and sees how much the world has changed and changes her idea completely of home and they both end up happy in the end.
