The "Pillar of Fire" symbolizes God's abiding presence with the Israelites as they journeyed from Egypt to the Promised Land.

  • It also means that God the Father Almighty was fighting in favor of the Israelites against the pursuing army of Pharaoh.  

  • With the "Pillar of Fire" or God's presence, the Israelites and Moses were able to escape from the crutches of the Egyptians, who could not come near them.   The pillar provided protection and direction for the Israelites.

Thus, the "Pillar of Fire" means that God was the guiding light of the Israelites when they won freedom from their enemies.
