The term Problem-oriented policing refers to a strategy based on identifying the crimes and problematic situation that occur or could occur in a community and then develop actions to stop or avoid these situations. Because of this, it has been considered problem-oriented is not reactive, but proactive, as the problem-oriented policy is not only about police or similar reacting to crimes once they occur (reactive approach), but implies identifying and analyzing the causes and factors that contribute to crime to eliminate them from their origin (proactive approach). Therefore, it can be concluded it is false problem-oriented policing takes a reactive approach to a community's problems because it mainly takes a proactive approach.
