Demand for electrical services in your area is $12 million per year. It is expected to grow 10% compounded annually over the nex

In 5 years the demand will be about $19.33 million.

<u>Given:</u>

The formula for compound growth is E = B \times (1 + R)^T, where <em>E</em> is ending value, <em>B</em> is beginning value, <em>R</em> is rate of growth, and <em>T</em> is the amount of time.

Demand for electrical services (<em>B</em>) = $12 million per year

Growth rate <em>(R) </em>= 10%

<em>T</em>= 5 years

<u>Computation</u>:

Substitute all values in the formula , we get

E = 12 \times (1 + 0.1)^5\\\\=12(1.1)^5\\\\=12\times1.61051=19.32612\approx19.33

In 5 years the demand will be about $19.33 million.

Use FOIL to explain how to find the product of (a + b)(a − b). Then describe a shortcut that you could use to get this product w
andriy [413]
Greetings!

FOIL stands for:

F
ront
Outside
Inside
Last

This tells which terms to multiply when using the Distributive Property.
(NOTE: Only applicable with 2-term Polynomials)

For Example:
(a+b)(a-b)

Multiply the Fronts of both Equations:
(a*a)

Multiply the Outsides of both Equations:
(a*a)+(a*-b)

Multiply the Insides of both Equations:
(a*a)+(a*-b)+(b*a)

Multiply the Lasts of both Equations:
(a*a)+(a*-b)+(b*a)+(b*-b)

Simplify.
=a^2-ab+ba-b^2

=a^2-b^2

Alternative Method (My Prefered Method)
(a+b)(a-b)=a(a+b)-b(a+b)

Use Regular Distributive Property.
a(a+b)-b(a+b)

a*a+a*b-b*a+-b*b

Simplify.
a^2+ab-ba+-b^2

a^2-b^2

Hope this helps.

Yanka [14]

Answer:

The increase = $0.12

The new price = $1.27

Step-by-step explanation:

1.15 divided by 10% = 0.115 = 0.12

0.12 + 1.15= 1.27
