The reason being that in both of this the child is more grounded and has a much clearer view on what is going on in their environment. For example “The Egg” where the narrator is aware of the ambition, sacrifice and the failures that his father goes through. In “Mother Tongue” the daughter is the one that has to speak in her mother's stead because her english is very limited.
