• She wants the boy to recognize and participate in the Latino culture and that is why she usually speaks in Spanish in front of the boy.
• The boy, on the other hand, grew up within American culture, which is his father's culture of origin.
• His grandmother's behavior intimidates him a little, but he soon gets used to it and admires the way his grandmother lives.
• The boy's grandmother and father do not have much admiration for each other, mainly because of cultural differences.

Therefore, we can affirm that the best way for the author to expose his grandmother's Latin origin, without using disrespectful stereotypes, would be to add expressions in Spanish to her speech.
