An absolute monarchy is, a monarchy where all the power was in the King and Queen's hands. Louis XIV regarded as the best example of an absolute monarch in the seventeenth century. He strengthened his power and described his concern to France with the expression, “I am the state”. He broke with tradition and astonished his court by declaring that he would rule without a chief minister. He viewed himself as the direct representative of God, endowed with a divine right to wield the absolute power of the monarchy.
