Prokaryotic cells cell walls contain peptidoglycan sensitive to traditional antibacterial antibiotic. True or False
kherson [118]

Answer:

True

Explanation:

Prokaryotic cell or bacterial cell contain cell wall which is made up of peptidoglycan and traditional antibacterial antibiotics were able to interfere with the cell wall synthesis and cause the destruction of bacterial cells.

For example, one of the most traditional antibiotic is penicillin which inhibit the synthesis of bacterial cell wall by blocking transpeptidation reaction. As it inhibits new cell wall formation it results in the formation of holes in the cell wall.

These holes in the cell allow movement molecules inside the cell and cause osmotic cell lysis. Therefore the statement is true.

Describe the role of chiasmata in chromosome segregation during meiosis.
Aleksandr [31]

Explanation:

The phase of Prophase I of meiosis is very long and divided into 5 subphases: Leptotene, Zygote, Pachytene, Diplotene, and Diakinesis. During a phase of the Diplotene, the degree of condensation is high, which allows individualizing the sister- chromatids that remain attached by the cohesins. The synaptonemal complex disintegrates, and from the centromeres begins a repulsion between homologous chromosomes, which remain associated only with the places where they occur as permutations.

These sites are called chiasmas (Greek, crossed) because they show the crossover of homologous chromatids. Chiasmas represent the cytological finding of the occurrence of permutation. The presence of at least one bivalent chiasm is essential to ensure the correct segregation of the homologous chromosomes in anaphase I.

What happens to a muscle cell when there is a shortage of oxygen being supplied to it?
Eva8 [605]
Cellular respiration is the process in which your muscles use oxygen to produce ATP energy. The process is simple. Your body obtains oxygen from the ambient air you breathe. It enters the blood stream and is carried to your muscles, where some of it is used immediately, and the rest is stored by a compound called myoglobin. Whether you’re exercising or not, the oxygen in your body is used to break down glucose and create the fuel for your muscles called ATP.
