Why should flag burning not be protected by the first amendment?

English
1 answer:
Basile [38]3 years ago

Answer and Explanation:

This act is protected under the First Amendment, although it is rude and offensive, and when seen as in a political view, almost like a threat to whoever's country the flag is from.

It is protected because it shows "symbolic speech", which is protected under the amendment.

An example of symbolic speech that was used was seen with the Tinker v. Des Moines Supreme Court Case. The case was that students at a school were wearing black armbands to symbolize their opinion on the Vietnam war. Tinker won the case because they are allowed free speech. They also didn't speak about it or make any remark about the war, which helped in them winning the case.

Opinions that can be made against the protection of this act is that it is offensive to people, and seen as disrespectful from whoever.

To critique society is to examine it in order to state a fact. break a rule. give an opinion. provide evidence.
Darya [45]

Answer: give an opinion. Let's start with the fact that any person simply openly expressing his opinion, his position on any issue, will necessarily be in one way or another subject to criticism. Further, from the attitude to criticism really depends very much. For some people, criticism is a stimulus for self-development, for others- a destabilizing factor.

Which question can help a writer analyze a prompt and develop a claim for an argumentative essay?
Mrac [35]

The answer is Why will I be writing?

Explanation:

One of the most important elements in writing is the purpose of writing or why the writer writes. This element influences the claim or thesis statement in the text. For example, if the purpose is to persuade, the claim should support a specific point of view.

Moreover, the purpose is related to the prompt (instructions for writing) because by analyzing the purpose (persuade, explain, describe, etc), it is possible to understand how to write a text according to the prompt. In this context, why will I be writing? is the question that helps understand the prompt and develop a claim.
