To go someplace "on Shank's pony" (a common expression) means simply to walk there. The idiom springs from that part of the leg known as the shank, or shin, and the use of ponies for travelling.
The Irony of this is that he told his mom that basically he was going to be fine and not to worry but he actually died on his way .
Everyday homework i believe is not necessary because if the student is not picking up the subject or assignment in class if they bring it home and don’t ask for help they will learn how to do it wrong or not understand it at all. it is really hard to relearn something so i believe it’s easier for the teacher to teach the whole entire class and maybe doing an assignment in class to make sure everyone gets it and if they don’t the teachers can help them and make sure they truly understand it before giving out a test
