Ancient civilizations were able to spread their power and influence more when they had money. money enabled them to fund larger armies and trade more of their goods which brought power to them.
With the larger armies they were able to maintain from being wealthy, ancient civilizations like the Babylonians were able to conquer and subjugate neighbouring areas thereby giving them more power over more areas thus enabling them to establish great empires
