The displacement of the girl which the relative change in her position from her starting point. Therefore, the shortest distance between her initial and final position is 58.85 m North - West

From the sketch of the girls movement attached below, the displacement of the girl can be calculated thus :

Using Pythagoras :

Displacement, d = √(50² + 20²)

d = √(2500 + 400)

d = √2900

d = 53.851

Therefore, the displacement of the girl, which is the shortest distance between her current position and starting position is 53.85 meters NW.
