The image is an example of an illuminated manuscript. The concept was to
combine religious text (Christian and Islamic) and artistic detail, in
order to emphasize the importance of the text. At one time, illuminated
manuscripts were the only legalized, accepted form of art.
The
technique of blocking some parts of a photograph to emphasize (or draw
attention to) another part of the same photograph is called <span>Framing </span>
<span>Augustus’ statue is shown barefoot, wears no military boots even though he is wearing his full armor to go to the battlefield war, which indicates that he is a hero and since gods are depicted with bare feet, the missing detail indicated that he is god-like. </span>
Some characteristics include being more artificial, with exaggerated proportions, and distorted perspectives. Mannerism took influences from the high renaissance period.
