Answer:

Yiping traveled 7.5 miles

Explanation:

The equation is  5 + 2.3x =  22.25

Subtract 5 from both sides.

2.3x=22.25−5

Subtract 5 from 22.25 to get 17.25.

2.3x=17.25

Divide both sides by 2.3.

x=  \frac{17.25}{2.3}

Expand \frac{17.25}{2.3}

 by multiplying both numerator and the denominator by 100.

x=  \frac{1725}{230}

result is 7.5

The sentence is correctly constructed:To improperly place modification in an infinitive phrase produces an awkward construction.
Ierofanga [76]
This is true. You shouldn't split your infinitives unless necessary for grammatical reasons, while splitting them to add a modification in the middle creates a weird, awkward sentence.

It is not fully the same. (vv Read below if you would like to understand vv)
