Answer:

-1 1/3 - 1 2/3= -3

Step-by-step explanation

You do not need to worry about the common denominator since both fractions share the denominator of 3. All you have to do is subtract. Personally for me, I like dealing with improper fractions not mixed fractions.

Part 1. First convert both fractions to improper fractions. To do this you multiply the denominator to the whole number at the side then add the numerator. From there you will have a value that you use to replace the numerator. Keep the denominator as 3.

- 4/3 - 5/3

Part 2. Subtract and then simplify:

- 4/3 - 5/3 = -9/3 = -3

What is the nth term of a geometric sequence that has a common ratio of 6 and 24 as the third term
Ivanshal [37]
The common ratio r is 6, while the third term (ar²) is 24.
Nth  term in a GP is given by the formula ar^n-1, thus the third term is ar²
ar²= 24
thus, a × 36 = 24
         a =24/36
The ninth term is given by ar^8
= (24/36)× 6^8
= 1119744.

What is the circumference of a circle with a diameter of 5 feet? Use 3.14 for π.
Aloiza [94]

Answer:

31.4 feet or 957.072 centimetre-square

Step-by-step explanation:

We can convert the feet to centimetre or work with it that way

Formula for circumference

C=2TTr^2

C=2*3.14*5

C=31.4 feet

Convert to centimetres

Each feet equal 30.48cm

31.4 feet will be

31.4*30.48= 957.072 cm^2
