Later, her mother takes her out to the market and shows off Waverly proudly. Waverly, however, does not take this as a compliment and their relationship stoops lower. "(Waverly) I wish you wouldn't do that, telling everybody I'm your daughter" turns into "(My mother's) eyes turned into black slits... Aii-ya! Stpuid girl!". This is too much for Waverly to take and she runs off into a dark alley. At this moment, they are both fuming at each other. However, we can theorize that even though their relationship isn't the best currently, the mother will come back for Waverly by the end due to the fact it cuts off at "I thought and imagined she wouldn't come back. Then two" gives us a clue as to what will happen. Waverly will end up being reunited with her mother and their relationship will likely mend. In conclusion, their relationship changed drastically from start to finish, quickly going downhill.
