Por otra parte, la escasez de agua para consumo representa una de las causas principales de deshidratación y de otras complicaciones para la salud. Es por esta razón que la Asamblea General de las Naciones Unidas (ONU) ha establecido que el acceso a fuentes confiables de agua potable representan un derecho humano fundamental para poder tener una vida sana.
