Which era of prison do you think is the worst approach to imprisonment?
Artemon [7]
Imprisonment as a form of criminal punishment only became widespread in the United States just before the American Revolution, though penal incarceration efforts had been ongoing in England since as early as the 1500s, and prisons in the form of dungeons and various detention facilities had existed since long before then. Prison building efforts in the United States came in three major waves. The first began during the Jacksonian Era and led to widespread use of imprisonment and rehabilitative labor as the primary penalty for most crimes in nearly all states by the time of the American Civil War. The second began after the Civil War and gained momentum during the Progressive Era, bringing a number of new mechanisms—such as parole, probation, and indeterminate sentencing—into the mainstream of American penal practice. Finally, since the early 1970s, the United States has engaged in a historically unprecedented expansion of its imprisonment systems at both the federal and state level. Since 1973, the number of incarcerated persons in the United States has increased five-fold, and in a given year 7,000,000 people were under the supervision or control of correctional services in the United States.[1] These periods of prison construction and reform produced major changes in the structure of prison systems and their missions, the responsibilities of federal and state agencies for administering and supervising them, as well as the legal and political status of prisoners themselves.

What contributed the MOST to Germany's decision to resume unrestricted submarine warfare against
Bad White [126]

Answer:

Brainiest

Explanation:

Unrestricted submarine warfare was first introduced in World War I in early 1915 when Germany declared the area around the British Isles a war zone, in which all merchant ships, including those from neutral countries, would be attacked by the German navy. A string of attacks on merchant ships followed, culminating in the sinking of the British ship Lusitania by a German U-boat on May 7, 1915. Although the Lusitania was a British ship and it was carrying a supply of munitions—Germany used these two facts to justify the attack—it was principally a passenger ship, and the 1,201 people who drowned in its sinking included 128 Americans. The incident prompted U.S. President Woodrow Wilson to send a strongly worded note to the German government demanding an end to German attacks against unarmed merchant ships. By September 1915, the German government had imposed such strict constraints on the operation of the nation’s submarines that the German navy was persuaded to suspend U-boat warfare altogether.

Which amendment to the u.s. constitution states: no persons shall be held to answer for a capital or otherwise infamous crime, u
drek231 [11]
Hi there!

The Fifth Amendment of the Constitution concerns the right to trial and includes the phrase "No person shall be held to answer for a capital, or otherwise infamous crime, unless on a presentment or indictment of a grand jury". This Amendment, which is part of the Bill of Rights, ensures that Americans can not be held accountable for a crime without a fair and speedy trial involving a grand jury.
