I am assuming by the subject that you mean societal customs, thus I will provide two in the following statements.
In India, it is a custom to remove your shoes before entering a temple, and to not wear suggestive or otherwise revealing clothing.
In Japan, it is a custom to use honorifics when addressing others.
Aye, we don't have any options, article, book or anything to know what and when we are writing about. I will do my best though.
Patriotism. What the heck is it:
Patriotism is supporting one(s) country. If you are from France you would be a patriot and support France. If you are from America you would support America. Your just standing up for and supporting your country / where you live.
How does / can it get out of hand:
If someone from one county or place runs into a person from another county or place, then things could get ugly. (Not physically run into, but figuratively.) Those two people could get into an argument about who's country is better, politics, who runs / leads them better and who is more successful.
Hope that made sense (I don'e really know what I wrote down)

Second, as ocean temperatures rise, there is also less cold, subsurface ocean water to serve as a braking mechanism for hurricanes.
