As this bee dines on nectar, it also transfers pollen from one flower to another. Pollen containing sperm is transferred to the

female flower parts and fertilization of an egg soon follows.
Which statement BEST summarizes the change in chromosome number before and after fertilization?

A) N + N yields N

B) N + N yields 2N

C) N + 2N yields 3N

The right answer is B) N + N yields 2N

During this crossing, the vegetative nucleus degenerates, while the reproductive nucleus (n chromosomes) divides into 2 male nuclei or spermatozoa, each with n chromosomes. These are the male gametes of flowering plants.

One of the spermatozoa unites with the oosphere and gives the zygote (at 2n).

After this fertilization, the egg is transformed into seed while the ovary develops into fruit containing one or more seeds. The other parts of the gynoecium and the flower usually disappear.

Use specific examples from Joseph Priestley’s experiment to explain the relationship between what he observed and what he inferr
Temka [501]
Joseph Priestley is an 18th century natural philosopher who is famous in his experiments in electricity, air, optics and soda water. His works are qualitative rather than quantitative because he does not concern himself with theories but practical applications.
His experiment in electricity through replication of other experiments lead to the publication of his book known as History of Electricity. He observed that electricity conducts through certain materials like coal and that electricity flow from conductors to non-conductors.With this experiments he concluded that conductivity is related to chemical property.
Another experiment that lead to a famous discovery is placing a mice in closed container with mercuric oxide. He concluded that the mice survived sometime because of common air-oxygen. He then  relate oxygen in respiration and its use in the blood.

In lecture, I mentioned most lakes are phosphorus limited. However, the most severely eutrophic lakes are often nitrogen limited
KIM [24]

Answer:

Phosphorus is essential for growth of plants and other organisms. When concentration of phosphorus mostly from high breeding rate e.g., pigs, cattle etc. rise in water it causes severe growth of plants and algae as well as phytoplanktons. As a results layers of phosphorus start to release phosphorus as well due to positive gradient. These reactions in water are iron-redox reactions that are crucial for the release of phosphorus.

When too much phosphorus accumulates, it produces a degrading growth feedback in plants, algae and phytoplanktons that then shift toward excessive nitrogen available from fertilizers and cause a flip from P to N. Cynobacteria now dominates and denitrification as well as nitrification takes place simultaneously.

Severe eutrophication induces hypoxia in water that cause a major damage to plants biodiversity in the environment.
