I would prepare as much as we could with all our quite, limited, resources. Such as gathering food, collecting water, clothes, the basics. I would then plan for us to find a way out of the United States, considering, you're now in a place, where everything is crashing down. But, if I couldn't get out I would, find shelter, and provide for safety, as of baring the arms I need.
