Annotating means it is a method of writing down your ideas of texts. It also means marking and taking notes in a text in some way. Like underlining key passages, circling words you do not know so you can look them up.

(4) reasons why you should annotate:

1. It helps build a better understanding of texts and stories.

2. It makes the reading more meaningful, and it helps you remember key information.

3. It leaves the reader with a more thorough understanding of the material.

4. It  also allows you to pose questions for further research and recall critical thoughts that can later be turned into papers or other assignments.

(3) steps to annotate a source:

1. Underline main ideas or claims the author is making.

2. Circle words you don't know and (optionally) define them in the margin.

3. Put stars next to anything that gives you pause – either positive or negative.

My favorite strategy for annotating is probably make notes and flag or highlight important details while reading.

It will help you become more successful by understand the details  and it keeps track of thoughts and feelings.

Hope this helps! Good luck :)
