Describe two benefits and two challenges of transitioning to a democratic form of government
Basile [38]
PROS: people get to choose who they want in office and a democratic gov. often keeps check on corruption, making it less likely to go to war.
CONS: people could vote for someone in office for their selfish needs rather than focusing on the needs of the country as a whole and terms in office could be too short causing views to change often which could lead to an unsteady government.

hope this helps :)

The Constitution defines the powers of Congress and places limits on them. Discuss the ways in which the Constitution limits Con
vodomira [7]

Answer:

The U.S. Constitution defines several powers exclusive to the U.S. Congress, among them:

  • The power to formally declare war, vested on the Senate.
  • The power to raise revenue (collect taxes). Bills that raise revenue have to originate in the House.
  • The power to impeach the President. One of its most famous discretionary powers. The House accuses, and the Senate decides the trial.
  • The power to confirm Justices of the Supreme Court - also a discretionary power given specifically to the Senate: the president presents a candidate, and the Senate either confirms or rejects the candidate.

How did the authors of the constitution hope the House of Representatives and senate would balance each other
katovenus [111]

Answer:

By the system of self-checking.

Explanation:

Balance in U.S. constitution is all about the Separation of Powers, how the power is shared between the branches and how it can be challenged by one branch on one another.

The Legislature branch is a bicameral system, that combined the ideas that each state should have equal representation in the federal government (Senate) and representatives that were based on population number (House of representatives).

To guarantee the balance of House of Representatives and Senate a system of self-checking was created that includes:

   * Bills must be passed by both houses of Congress;

   * House must originate revenue bills;

   * Neither house may adjourn for more than three days without the consent of the other house;

   * All journals are to be published.
