When using a colon to introduce a list, what must the colon follow?

tigry1 [53]

A colon is indeed expected to introduce a list but the text preceding it must constitute an independent clause making up a sentence that can stand alone.Use a colon after an independent clause that introduces and states the nature of the list that [ follows. The preceding sentence must include a phrase that serves as a generalizing term common to the list elements ]

What is the relationship between “catching” a yawn and social behavior?
Pavel [41]
Humans are hardwired to do what we see, hence the term, monkey see, monkey do. The relationship between “catching” a yawn and social behavior is that we subconsciously “catch” the yawn to be seen as “normal” because it is what someone around us has done. A lot of it goes back to psychology. I would suggest looking up Solomon Asch’s human conformity experiment to get a better understanding. :)
