We need to appreciate that nation states in the 21st century are interdependent on each other. If the USA’s economy collapses, it will affect Europe and Asia, and vice versa, whether you like it or not.
But you don’t want to be completely dependent on one commodity or on one industry or on one nation, etc. You don’t want to put all your eggs in one basket, as the saying goes.
