After the Japanese bombed pearl harbor, many ships sank and many lives of lost, Truman was NOT happy so he had 4 choices, 1. Raid Japan 2. Bomb Japan in a big population  3. invade japan 4. bomb Japan in an inhabited city

America lost millions of dollars and lives and so did Japan, unlike Japan however, America gave Japan some supplies and money shortly after they surrendered.
