The setting in The Crucible was one that was in Salem, Massachusetts in the late 17th century. Its setting is real as based on true story. In the play, the community used is superstitious and paranoid. With a strong aversion to witches, the play events occurred within a Puritan society. To make the setting real the actors use background and props which are identical to the setting of the Salem village.
