I think he meant that if there was a God then he would not let us struggle. Yet I think he is incorrect because if God did not let us struggle then we would never learn.

The realist movement started (in france during the 1800's) because artists wanted to break away from the usual and formal art styles and subjects that people originally used. so they created objective and unemotional works that were full of detail and imaginative flourishes.
